I am trying to decode my Chevelle and I would just like to have someone decode the cowl tag now that I got most of the overspray off of it, here is what it looks like:

Body by Fisher

ST 71 13637 (V8 Chevelle 2-door) K-001598 BDY

TR 705 52 52 PNT

07D 05423

Here is the VIN as well:
1 367 1K244160

And here is another mystery number on the other side of the car:

0690

Thank you to anyone that can help me out!

13637 is a V8 Malibu 2-dr coupe, not a Chevelle. 'Chevelle' was the base model and would be 13437 for a V8 2-dr coupe. ;)

Trim tag shows:
K ~ Kansas assembly
001598 ~ Fisher Body unit number
TR 705 ~ Black Elk Coated Fabric, Black Coated Fabric bench seat (buckets would have A51 beside it)
52 52 ~ Sunflower yellow (lower-upper) [neat color too!]
07D ~ July, 4th week
05423 ~ assembly tracking codes. Could be on build sheet (try block 24 if you have it)

VIN:
1 ~ Chevrolet
36 ~ V8 Malibu
(missing 3)7 ~ 2-dr coupe
K ~ Kansas again
244160 ~ vehicle sequence assembly number starting with 100001. Yours was the 144,160th Chevelle off the KC line. July, 4th week was getting towards the end of the 71 model year run as the assmbly line changeover was usually in July/August to start tooling for the next model year available in September.

When you say "...the other side of the car..." what do you mean? A chalk/paint mark on the firewall or a big number on the door? :D Just kidding.
