Good morning yall. It's been 13 years since I have wrenched on my 66. Bought it when back in 1990 when I was 19 years old from a 21 year old from Modesto,Ca. Car was in rough shape. Nothing original other than the 12 bolt rear. I had a lot of fun tearing and rebuilding this car. Frame off 3 times just cuz I had time :) 7 trannys...3 motors.13 years ago we had assembled a 396 and forgot to torque down a rod completely. 1 hour into break-in...it froze up. I lost interest in it for 13 years. Now that I have owned a bar (circa 1931) for almost 5 years, I have regained my interest in my car...due to the interest in my Bike Night Wednesdays. I am building this car on a ultra low budget but i am bound to go fast. Myself and a few locals are planning on driving her to the Bonneville Salt Flats this August. I am planning on breaking into the 130mph class...and maybe 160mph class in October. She runs 3.08 rears with a 5 speed overdrive. I have a friend that donated a 454 to fill the void. Going with Bassett Racing wheels (Nascar) and 4 wheel drums...LOL!!! I will be acquiring another frame to build up a stout boxed frame. This car will also be on display at my weekly Hot Rod Classic Car Night starting Tuesday March 17th St. Patricks Day...and will be a weekly event. Pleasure to be here and I hope to attend a few functions and meet some of you. :hurray:
