I am looking to purchase a 65 convert but the current owner has no paper work. How or where can
I check to make sure im not going to have trobule regestering it? or that it is not stolen? any help would be great!

The VIN tag is located on the A-pillar (see http://www.chevellestuff.com/65velle/tags/vin_kan04.jpg for a picture of a 65 VIN tag) about half way up the jam. You should be able to take this number to the Highway Patrol or DMV and run a check to see if it's stolen and inquire about getting a clear title for it.
