I bought a 454 over the weekend from a guy who's had it sitting in his garage for 28 years. Supposed to have come out of a '70 Chevelle. Still has the original (I think) alternator, waterpump, p/steering pump, etc attached.
Besides dropping the pan, anyway to tell if 2 or 4 bolt block?
Anyway, here's the numbers:

Casting number: 3963512
Casting date: H3170
Numbers off front pad: T1130CPA
upside down: 11K134640
Intake casting number: 3955287
date: E2170
Heads: 3993820
dates: 1 9 70
1 1170
Waterpump: 3931065
Alternator: 1100834

Thanks for the help, SC.

11K134640 is from a 1971 car built in Kansas City (Leeds)

1 - Chevrolet
1 - 1971
K - Kansas City Assembly
134640 - Last 6 digits of the VIN

Why would someone just take the engine out of a car and then have the year wrong? Stolen and stashed for all this time?

It's probably out of a '71. The guy was about 70 years old and his memory is probably not what it once was.
Still a nice package. Don't know if I'm going to keep it or sell it.
