The 1304065903 is the number for an aluminum case Super T-10 which was an OEM GM transmission used from 1975 through the early 80's. They were all 26-spline input and 32-spline outputs. There should be some circular grooves on the input shaft which will tell you what gearset is in it. Also, there should be some stamped letters/numbers on a pad right next to the side cover which will tell you when it was assembled. There is also a boss just above the side cover which may or may not have a partial VIN stamped into it.

thanks for your reply.I went ahead and bought the tranny and looked it over real good heres what i found.
6-12-75
16s410435 wk952
number on the side cover
3-04-097-901 another number 8-03-75
3 rings on the input shaft
i marked the input and output shaft and turned the input 2 full turns and that left the output 8 teeth short of a full turn.. would that tell you and gear info? also is this transmission strong enough behind a 425 hp big block ..thanks i hope this is good info i'm giving you as i'm not to hip on trannys.. :D

how will that tranny gear ratio work with my rear gear of a 4-10. should i think about changing the rear gear.. being that this transmission came out of a vette I would assume it would be a pretty strong unit ...thanks for all the help ;)

Most of those crusing here know hwo to decode things but the Transmission section will probably find more trans experts.

4.10's would be a bit much. 3.31 or 3.55 would be much better and you'd be happier at highway speeds.

If you look at the original poster's number, 1304065903 is a Borg Warner ST-10. The W.G. Div stands for Warner Gear Division.:beers:
