My Malibu is the same color combo as that one. I have a white vinyl top as well. I plan in the future to make a COPO clone out of it on the outside but will retain the 406 small block under the hood.

Larry G, do you have any pictures of your car? I'd like to see some burnished brown Chevelle pics. Mine is red now...

Does the A on cowl tag signify a January build date?

FWIW, the 'BL095366' are tracking codes. So far I've only found the last three digits (366 in the case) correspond to the 'trim inspection sequence number' found on the trim sheet.

Question for Larry G. A COPO (except striped Yenko cars which he added) were based on the Malibu anyway with nothing to make them appear special on the outside; no badging, no stripes, no trim, etc. It was the 427 and other not-so-obvious options that made the COPO what it was. It just struck me as odd, how do you clone a COPO (which was a standard Malibu) with a Malibu? Every 2 door sport coupe Malibu out there is a COPO clone on the outside. (?) I never seen any COPO Chevelles with a vinyl top...were any made? Personally I think the Burnished Brown with a white vinyl top is unique enough without putting Yenko stripes on it. Just my $0.02.

I have a photo of a nice Burnished Brown covertible here (http://www.chevellestuff.com/69velle/gallery/61_burnished_brown.jpg) to drool over. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks Dale! Looked again today, and the rivet is covering the month. Is there any other way to find out what month the car was built?

This car continues to get more and more interesting. Has SS emblems on it, and has been painted torch red. It was raced, so has some nasty stuff like a fuel cell and race buckets in it.

Interesting thing is that it has a "KQ" rear in it. Also, is a radio delete car. The guy I bought it from said that it had a 427 blower motor in it before he got it (now has a 454/ 425 horse crate motor). Wondering if I really have stumbled onto a neat car???
