See pic. For some reason I thought 70 heater hoses didn't have markings. I got these from Ground Up. One has markings, the other doesn't.

The lower hose does not have a spring inside. Is that going to present a problem?

Thanks in advance.

The heater hoses and bypass hose should be the ribbed type without lettering. I don't know if it would hurt not to have the spring in the radiator hose

I may have to return the heater hoses and just remove/replace the plain existing ones to get the tower clamps on. Can I just use the spring in the existing hose (if there's one in there)? I plan on tearing into this on Friday evening.

If those hoses are like some I've purchased in the past from GU, the screen printed lettering won't last very long...don't touch it or it will rub off quite easily.

I believe the heater hoses should be the ribbed design as mentioned, and the lower hose may collapse with out the support of the spring inside.

if you have a/c or h/d cooling (4 core) upper radiator hose is wrong

No HD cooling.

I do not know if my existing lower hose has a spring or not. How difficult is it to remove this spring from the existing hose?

Aggravating as I'm going to have to pay to ship all this stuff back and it holds off my hose change for another week at least.

Eh, I just went back and read the ad from which I ordered this. I missed the BRIGHT RED PRINT that says "All hose kits come with GM logo heater hoses."

Ok, well my bad. I guess I will move forward with my install until I decide to add ribbed hoses.

GIANT PAIN IN THE A--.

I'm sorry I started this project. My back is killing me.

Long story short. The heater hoses are too big. The outlet fittings coming out of my manifold and water pump are too small. The original-style Wittek water pump bypass hose clamps cannot deal with the size of these, either (they're too big). I had to go out and rebuy some heater hose and now I have this mixture of Wittek clamps and worm clamps. I got so frustrated that I didn't even bother changing the lower hose.

The only other real solution would have been to buy new outlet fixtures for the manifold and water pump. Maybe someday. Today is not that day!

What a mess from all of this!

On the positive side, I did buy and install a 160 deg thermostat. It had a 180 degree. My car runs over 200 deg in cool weather, and I want to see if that brings it down a little. Believe it or not, changing the oil brought the temp down a few degrees.

All done. The thermostat worked out great. She gets to maybe 195 and that's it.

The heater hoses all have the correct clamps now. Bypass hose has the worm clamps...I will fix that eventually.
