i have a 67 el camino starts and runs good sometimes after it runs a while and warms up gen light will come on, it is still charging according to volt meter (13 plus volts) and when you turn key off it will nt shut off instantly it will run for a second or so. could this be a bad alternator thanks for your help
My 66 with a 350 and unknown vintage alternator with the original style separate regulator does this.
If I remove and reinstall the plug at the regulator, it apparently makes better contact and seems to fix the problem....

This is if you have an alternator with an external reg.
Had the same problem, I bought an updated vol reg from oreilly's and the regulater pigtail and it it fix the prob, now it is 4 month later and I use my car as a daily driver. I aslo changed the pigtail on the alternator. DO NOT BY THE EXT REGULATOR FROM AUTOZONE, THEY ARE A PEIECE OF *****.
