Hi Tom,

Here's how your cowl tag decodes

ST = refers to style of car
69 = model year 1969
13667 = model number for a Malibu V8 two door convertible
OS = assembly plant code for Oshawa Ontario Canada
455807 = Fisher body order number for your cars body
BDY = refers to above
TR = refers to interior trim
791 = interior code for vinyl (sorry no reference material for interior codes)
71 = lower body exterior paint colour LeMans Blue
1A = convertible top colour White
3C = production date of car body third week of March 1969
A51 = front bucket seats
D55 = floor console unit
L35 = 396 V8 325 HP engine
M20 = Muncie wide ratio four speed manual

I believe you have a Canadian built 69 Chevelle SS convertible. Nice car.

Check out my club's web site at http://cdnclassics.chevelles.net

Trim 791 is Aff Parchment Coated Fabric bucket seats. The 'B79' option isn't listed by GM for US-built cars but that's not unusual. There is a GM of Canada you can write to that will verify the car and list its options. I don't remember the address off-hand, but what you'll get is something like this (http://www.team67.com/gallery/supersport/mel_anderson05.jpg) with the production plant, production date and shipping date as well as the original dealer. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The B79 is Exterior Ornamention Rearend. I presume this is either in reference to the blacked out panel below the trunk lid, the SS emblem, or both. I am not certain. Your car was made about 7 weeks after mine from the same plant.

I have a few 1969 build sheets on US built cars and B79 is SS 396 Exterior Ornamentation.

Note-None of the 1970 and up buidsheets show this RPO.
