Hi all, after 8months I finally get to work on my car again.
I have a 138 car but it had a standard dash, no gauges. I bought the upgrade or SS package from Shiftworks ( has fuel/batt on left temp/oil on right). I bought all wiring harness for car from American Wire. All plugs as per schematics from my shop manual seem to be there. I pinned everything out to be sure.
Question is, old harness I removed has the Gen light (pink and a brown wire to bulb) this harness doesn't have it. I can add it but do I need to.? I've read you need it to help regulate the voltage in the loop to get it to turn over??

Any thoughts, the car is a new 396 with HEI so of course my schematics don't cover all that and nothing came with the separate harness packages. So far the harnesses look good for each area.

Thanks in advance for any help or comments.

You don't need it. There is a brown/white wire from the ignition switch to the bulkhead. It is a resistor wire that will allows the charging system to function without a GEN light.
