i have a 70 round gauge instrument panel and was wondering how to remove the lens. it has the tabs on the back that looks as though it was melted on. also what do you do when installing the lens back. thought i would ask before just doing it possible the wrong way. thanks

I pry the old one off, carefully, with a small screwdriver, then put the new one on, by melting the little tabs with a soldering iron.

I dremel the tab a little bit before I use a knife or screw driver to pop it off. Then I put a spot of glue on the tabs when I put it back on.

Most gauge clusters have another tab not even melted so you can melt those around your new Clear lens back on. Soldering iron works great, if you have to re-melt the old tabs, as all you need is a little melted plastic to hold it back on.

I think it might have been Brad who posted how to polish the plastic lens...
You might want to think about polishing it while its off. I am right in the middle of doing mine right now..
I picked at the plastic that surrounds the hole. I didnt drill mine or remelt it.
Reason is I can remelt the material thats still there to cover the lens. When you drill it out the plastic is gone...
