Unless your car was built in Canada, only a build sheet or protect-o-plate will let you know for sure. Try doing a search on this topic, as it comes up frequently.

I believe that it was built in Canada - does this help?

If it is Canadian built you are all set. Go here. Found this in another posting just searching on the word "Canada"

Check your vin number. All Canadian 70's have a #1 as the seven digit of the vin. Look at the cowl tag inside the engine compartment on the driver side close to the windshield. If you have the RPO Z25 on the cowl tag, you then have a real SS. Look for the built sheet, I found three of them, one behind the passenger bucket seat and two under the back seat. Build sheets can be located in any part of the car. Canadian build sheets are only 2 1/2" X 8 1/2".

Plus a true Canadian built car will have a Z15 or Z25 on the cowl tag

My car is definitely Canadian. I also know that it is not the original engine(probably a '66 - had that old cannister type oil filter) & tranny. I ordered a copy of the build sheet from GM Canada. My intention is to now restore it as close to original as possible, it'll obviously never be a numbers matching car. What needs to be done to make it as valuable as possible. Do I look for a 1970 engine & tranny? Does this matter at this point? Thanks for all the help everyone!!
