I have searched LS1tech, pro-touring and here, can't find any solid info on this setup for the 64-67 Chevelle. Does anyone have this combo and have some pics? Also, what tranny setup did you go with and what mods were needed for the tunnel? Thanks all.

You are certainly entitled to your own opinion but the LH8 pan will probably hang 2 or more inches below the crossmember and to me that is dangerous and unacceptable.

yes it will, at least on my 71

I used brp mounts and that pan though, not sure how close the 2 years are

Have you test fit these mounts and pan? Just curious to see where you are getting the 2" from. I had a guy from LS1tech just PM me and say it's less then an inch below the xmember. Thanks!

I have not personally test fit it but looking at comparisons between the F-body pan(which I am using) and the LH8 pan I can only conclude that it must hang significantly below the x-member. Sure you can shim the engine up high enough and it won't hang too low but then you are getting into the tranny tunnel mods and problems with driveline issues. By the time you have solved that chances are you could have modded the firewall to use the F-body pan just as easily. In my case and many others the F-body pan fits with no issues. Or if you want a guaranteed fit pay a little more up front and go with the autokraft pan.

Are you using the BRP motor mounts?

I made my own brp style mounts yes.

Ah ok. I am trying to find anyone who has actually used the BRP mounts with the LH8 pan on the 64-67. So far I have only found 2, and both said there was between 1/2"-3/4" hangdown below the cross member.

I am using the brp mounts and an LH8 pan on my 67 and it fits fine. The motor does not hang low. However you do need to modify the trans tunnel, no ifs and or buts about it. Phil from brp claims no mods to the tunnel but that is not true. I cut open the tunnel and reshaped a new piece and tacked it in. For the money the LH8 pan is the way to go. I guess you could use and Fbody pan and modify the firewall too, it just depends on where you want to modify your car. I have never seen an autokraft pan but I hear they are expensive. Good luck. I would post pics but don't know how on this forum.

I have never really been able to figure out how a couple people have not been able to fit the F-body pan. Not saying anybody is doing anything wrong its just odd it has worked on several different A-bodies of different makes and years then there have been a couple it hasn't. If you don't mind the pan hanging lower then I think the LH8 pan is a great option. I plan on lowering my car and doing some trackdays so I am not willing to take the risk of it hanging down like that.

I should also clarify a bit I am using the older style BRP adapter plates that move the engine back basically as far as possible which is the only way for the F-body pan to fit really.;

which is more likely the reason why noone gets the fcar pan to work because im sure noone wants to move the engine back.

I wouldn't say no-one gets it to work they are several A-bodies on LS1tech using the F-body pan. Regardless of what mounts you use you really need to unbolt the factory frame stands and re-locate them to get the correct engine placement. I would think anybody willing to mod the tranny tunnel would be willing to move the engine back an inch or two. I moved mine back and was still able to use my driveshaft without cutting. Although, it was cut when I installed the 700r4 on my previous SBC but I still used the same 700r4 on the LS1.
