Hi, fitted Hedman hedders a couple of years ago but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get bolts 4 and 6 in on the left side of the engine. It's now finally blown the gasket because of it. Does anyone have a trick how to get all the bolts in?
Thanks

Whats the problem? Is it that you can't get them into the holes after putting the header against the head? If so, Put the bolts through the holes with the header about an inch away from the head. If the holes don't line up. Pull the headers and with a drill, Elongate the holes in the flange..

Hmm... They just wouldn't grip. Extending the holes might be a solution. I'll try putting all the bolts in the holes first as you suggested first but think I already tried that.

Are the bolts long enough? They should extend at least 1 1/2" past the flange... Try threading the bolt into the hole in the head without the header. If the bolt is loose, You may need to helicoil or drill and tap for the next larger bolt. Another possibility, Are the bolts "metric"? they will fit but not tighten properly...

They're standard 3/8" bolts. The angle of the hedders tubes means two of the bolts won't sit square on the hole when you try to get it to grip.

The header bolts that came with my elite headers are 3/8x1". A 1 1/2" is way to long. I found the best method is to start all bolts first and then pull them up together. You might try starting the problem bolts first.

You're REALLY lucky to go a couple of years before blowing a gasket!!! If my bolts even "think" about being loose - POOF!!!

I found the trick to this today, thought I'd share. On the third tube drivers side, there's a groove that you can't see. Drop the bolt head down far enough when trying to push it through the hole and it will actually go through quite easily.
Waiting for new gaskets to arrive now.
Thanks
