Hello all...Im installing my new alumitec rad and SPAL fans in my 1967 SS...I want to connect the second power wire to constant power (so the fans run even if the ignition is off) and Im trying to keep it as clean looking as possible...where are you guys connecting it? I have heard that the horn relay is a good spot...but I want to know what has worked for you...

Thanks in advance...

Why not attach to the terminal behind the battery on the radiator support? The same place that the horn relay gets it's power from.

This will drain the battery! Is there a thermostat in the system? If so it will work. Just remember fuses where you connect to the horn relay. If the fan draws enough currrent you might need to get a larger wire from the alternator...

Hello...it does have a thermostat....and I was thinking about the junction block behind the battery....just seeing if anyone had done this and if there were any problems associated with that connection....

Should work. Usually the fans don't run too long so it does not stress things too much. Just make sure you add a fuse right after you come off of the junction block. Good time to clean up the junction block connection too..

I had trouble with fuse blowing so I went direct off the start hot. No problems since and I run both fans in tandem start up. Be sure your alternator can handle the extra load. I run a 140 amp alternator

My advice is don't leave it on a constant-hot source... you'll come back to a dead battery one day. Been there, done that, on a hot day.

When OEM's have fans that run-on after shutdown there is always a timer that only allows them to run for so long after key-off so the fans can't drain the battery.
