I have hit 3 fuel problems lately oncop cars-cannot get the fuel pump to buzz on 2 and the other one is going out slowly! All fuses and relays have been checked and all reset buttons reset-I forgot to mention-ALL 3 are 97 models! was there a factory problem or recall here on these models? I have worked on police cars for about 20 yrs now-but these 97 Crown vics are stressing me out! Anyone know a bout these problems? I know 1 does not have power going to the pump!

etrace,
I cannot tell for sure by your profile, but it looks like you are in the automotive repair business. If so, go to www.iatn.net (http://www.iatn.net) and sign up. There are more resources there than you would ever want.

Check a wiring diagram and guessing on a "hunch " that maybe there is a problem from the ignition switch .Since they are cop cars and cranked several times day. On some vehicles the PCM may be in control of grounding or supplying signal to the pump .

etracer,I just came across this post if you are still having problems let me know Im sure I can help, The cop car fuel system is wired the same as the regular ones. Yes the fuel pump relay is controlled by the pcm. There is also a fuse for the fuel pump. The pcm grounds the relay coil to turn it on. There is also a fuel pump prime connector that you can use for diag.
