: What is a good price to pay for a 1970 LS6?
fastssed Feb 28th, 09, 8:28 PM Looking at a 1970 SS LS6 car, 4sp, blue, buckets, very nice condition, recent paint and spruce up on the engine. Engine numbers match, but no documantation. On-line sources state $50K (good) to 99K(show). I realize this is difficult without seeing the car.
What is the right price to pay in todays economy?
TCSS1970 Feb 28th, 09, 10:45 PM No docs I'm staying at 50K. And I would expect a lot for my 50k and I would have to feel like in my mind after close scrutiny with the car that its real. A dog without papers is just a dog. For that kind of coin you could get a very nice, with docs LS5.
bookmaker19 Feb 28th, 09, 10:55 PM 50K for any car would need docs for me. To many imposters, without paper work its a big gamble.
DaleM Feb 28th, 09, 11:00 PM If the engine numbers match and it's pretty certain the engine pad hasn't been manipulated, it sound reasonable I suppose. Guess the first question is what are you going to do with it? Drive it, put more money into it to bring it up to show standards, ? To me, 50K is a lot for a driver (of any make/model) and I'd probably be afraid to drive it much anyway. You'd probably never get a good return on investment if you turned around and spent the dollars for a quality restoration - especially with no documentation.

Looking at a 1970 SS LS6...but no documentation.
If I was in the market for a '70 SS LS6, I wouldn't even consider one without documentation.

1badss396 Mar 1st, 09, 8:42 AM If you plan on spending any coin on a LS6 you might want someone else to check out the car before spending $50K+ and make sure its not a re-stamp engine pad.
If I was to pay out $50K for a LS6 it with no docks it better look like this one: Click HERE (http://community-2.webtv.net/johnlord/1970ChevelleSSLS6M22/)
1968MotionL88 Mar 1st, 09, 9:41 AM Theres a Black on Black white Stripe 70 LS6 Chevelle with supposively docs in Summit NJ for $65,000.00 .I saw it on craigslist.Been on there many times for sale.Never looked at it,but maybe a Team Chevelle member has.
oldtimebaseballfan Mar 1st, 09, 10:21 AM Ed, if you don't have the knowledge to verify it as a real LS6, the best thing to do is get someone with knowledge to look at it.

Considering the amount of phony cars, I don't put much value on #s matching anymore. Its gotten way out of hand. I remember a time when people bought these cars to enjoy them.
