I have a 68 Chevelle. The dash harness shorted and burnt up at the ignition switch. I bought a new one but I cannot tell where the wires go. I was wondering if anybody has a picture of the wires connected to the ignition switch. The clip that was there was already broken off so the wires where just clumpted together. Any help would be GREAT!!! I'm getting frustrated with this.

Chris. If you already had a short that melted your Ignition switch. I think the best thing to do would be to get a new Dash harness. It will have the proper connectors...
1968 CHEVELLE DASH HARNESS, WITH GAUGES (http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=chevellecamino&Product_Code=11780&Category_Code=DASHHARNESS)
1968 CHEVELLE DASH HARNESS, WITH WARNING LIGHTS (http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=chevellecamino&Product_Code=11760&Category_Code=DASHHARNESS) A little pricy but much cheaper than replacing your whole car....

I have been looking at some dash harnesses at true connections and really want to get a new one but I cannot afford it right now. Thats why I have to get this car running so my wife can leave the house during the week. I stole her car now.

What colors should the Key + and Key - wires be? Does anybody know where they go also? Anything would help me.
Go to your local GM dealer and get a new plug for the back of the ignition.
It comes with wires about 4" long with proper colors.
Easy to splice in.

Thank You Ark68SS.
I had seen you post in another topic with some pictures and they didn't show what i needed. This was perfect. I ended up calling a dealer and below the ad was a number for chevelle/el camino's. I talked to the guy and i checked out his place. I was able to get one of his used harnesses for $15. He has tons of used parts for chevelles and el camino's. I feel reassured that I have the wiring correctly after seeing your pictures. The "key+" and "key -" were the main two i needed help with. Hopefully I will have everything installed and back in the car within a month. Thank you all for helping me out. I really appriciate it a lot.
