The "correct" way is to pull all the Power stuff off and install a manual steering box. I have been running my power box "non-power" for quite a while. My sons Nova is the same way. Just unhook the lines, Blow out the fluid from the box, (use rags to catch the fluid, This can be messy) add a hose from one port to the other. (This is to keep dirt out of the box but allow any left over fluid to move freely to prevent any pressure bind.)

I am in the process of putting my car back together. It was a 4 drum / non power steering car and I chose to keep manual steering. Everyone keeps asking me why I don't convert to PS. My reply is, it is just a squeak and a leak and once your moving you don't need it anyhow :P

When you're running 275mm tread width on the front, manual steering gets old fast!

I just ran a hose from 1 port to the other on the box itself. It is harder to me than a manual steer from the factory.
