Doesn't noticeably smoke on start-up or during normal operation, but if it's idleing in traffic or the colossal lines @ In-N-Out burger it smokes like a nervous banker. Idles smooth no other complaints other than an exhaust leak, and X21000 mile wear. Anyone have any suggestions, i was thinking rings or valve guides/seals but if that were the case, it'd under load, or startup or somethign ....right?
thanks in advance fellas, just out for more opinions.

What color smoke? Black tends to be excessive fuel, in which case I would guess Carb loading up, or some other fuel problem, choke sticking ....etc.
Blue/white would be oil. In my experience valve guides/seals puff smoke on start up, and quickly disappears. Could be rings? Compression check?
You didn't tell your set up.....

I want to say it's greyish, don't think blue white but i'll check next tiem it happens. My setup is 100% stock except for HEI. 327/275 QJ.
Could you explain this loading up?

Loading up is a term meaning the carburator is dumping too much fuel, either float level is wrong, choke is partial on therefore not letting the right air/fuel mixture....etc

forgot about the problem untill yesterday, when it was happening again. SO! Am i better off finding a demon 525 or edelbrock 600 for the performer EPS sitting in the garage, OR pending you folks pointing me in the right direction, get the ol' qj rebuilt somewheres that knows what they are doing more so than my father and I. Got a feeling the quad is a little beat, hopefully not warped, but it wouldn't surprise me.
