Kansas City just pulled off a great move IMO. They traded a second round pick for Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel. Great Move. I guess we can refer to them as New England West now.:hurray:

Can't even think about such matters. Just focused on the fact that STEELERS are world champs for at least the next 11 months. Thats all that really matters anyway!!!!!:D

It's no surprise that these two teams are making deals now, theyr'e different divisions and the head player personell guy on the Chiefs just left NE. (Pioli)
I think it's a win win trade , the Pats get the 2nd pick in round two, free up 14+ million under the cap and move out a player, that in this stage of his career is a better leader than player( Vrabel), now if Bruschi retires we'll finally be able to move on and get younger in the LB corp.;)

The Chiefs get a talented QB and a veteran LB to lead a team that is starting to rebuild.

 Playoff here we come :hurray:

C'mon now... it's only two players;)

The Cowboys are finally addressing the secondary, Anthony Henry is gone. I am sure a few more DB's will be gone soon.

I thought N.E. put the tag on Cassel. Which in turns gives New England 2 first round picks from whoever signs him. Good move either way. Would have loved to see him handing off to A.Peterson though.

Not if ownership doesn't pony up some cash for Kurt Warner! Leinert is light years away from from being to lead a superbowl contender.

I figured that Seb would come on a say how great this was for the Pats, but in reality even though you got a low second round pick this deal is terrible for the Pats.In no way am I saying that the Pats should have kept Cassell,I just think they gave him away for nothing and threw in a great leader and good linebacker also.I cant figure this one out

I believe your thinking of a restricted free agent that has been offered a contact by his current team and has been outbid by another, that's when the 2 draft picks are awarded.;)
Not so sure Cassell warranted a first round pick:) and it's time for the old guys to move over;)
The Pats need to get younger on D... I've felt this way since midway through the 2007 season.
If and it's a big if....Belichik has a flaw , it's that he has too much devotion to his veteran guys on D, and keeps them around just a little too long.
I know guys like Bruschi, Vrabel,Harrison were key to the three Superbowl wins.. but were also the same guys that couldn't make one stop in Superbowl 42 when the game was on the line.
They have gotten younger in the secondary and have some talented guys back there, now it's time to do the same at LB...which is very crucial in the 3-4 defense.
Mayo will be the new leader at lb and I expect the Pats to give him some support this spring:yes:

I think they're heading in the right direction:yes:.. I bet in 2-3 seasons they'll be competing for the division on a yearly basis, new GM and head Coach , good QB...as long as the ownership is on board I think they'll be very competitive.;)

Remember in the NFL teams can and have gone from the basement in 1 season with the right moves. The Rams were horriblein 98. Then they added Marshall Faulk and it's a different team in 99. Great move by the Cheifs!:beers:

True, in this day and age any team can go from worst to first..look at the Finns last year.
On the other hand the Eagles have been to 5 NFC chanpionship games and only won one.
Time to sack Andy "Were's my 10th slice of Pizza" Reid.

According to my morning paper, Cassell had the franchise tag and was supposed to require two picks to make a trade. Pats only got one and I think it is #43, that's not much of a pick. Vrabel, yeah, great leader, but at the end of his career. I don't see the plus side for the Pats in this deal. Must be something happening we don't know about!

They haven't done anything about coach cupcake, as he is known in the DFW area now.

And they're still stuck with the worst owner in all of professional sports.

I think the translation is that Brady is coming along just fine with his knee and should be ready to go, no problem. If so, the Pats attitude probably was "take my back-up quarterback, please!" since they were obligated to pay him $14.5 million for the coming season as a result of placing the tag on him (average of the 5 highest at his position). The Pats just freed up a ton of cap space to sign free agents and draft picks. And KC got a quality player to lock up the QB position for a long time to come. I think they call that a win/win!

I can only say good luck to my team. They have been down and out for so long that KC fan all but abandoned them. I went to the Titan vs KC game last year and Arrowhead stadium was empty.

Take a look at the whole deal. NE got a very high 2nd round pick, not a low one, for Cassell and an aging linebacker. They cleared over 17M in cap space and are now free to wheel and deal. The bigger question still remains, is Cassell really that good or is he fools gold? Most Gm's are of the opinion that he only flourished because of NE's system, Randy Moss and Wes Welker. How will he do with another team without those weapons? I'll never second guess BB and his decisions, will you? Watch BB sign Julius Peppers in a day or 2 and still have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds, that's what I would call good management!

42nd pick overall, is that a fairly high pick? Clearing cap money was probably a big deal.
No doubt Brady will be 100%, but who will back him up, now? Cassell should be fine, if he won because of the system he was in and great recievers, I wold think you could reasonable compare him to Big Ben, who won the SB in the same situation. Given a reasonable good team, I think Cassell can be a winner, maybe the foundation for 6-10 years.

34th... it's the second pick in round 2;) and this (http://www.patriots.com/team/index.cfm?ac=playerbio&bio=33156) guy is the back up and very possibly Bradys replacement when he retires.
Young, big kid with a good arm and scrambling ability.... the coaches like him a lot and he looked good when he played sparingly last preseason.;)
A couple key defensive moves left to do.... then watch out!!!

Needs in this order= LB,DL,OL ....secondary I believe will be pretty good this year, they have a second year CB that was coming on when he got hurt in the Colts game,(Wheatley) they just resigned one of their safeties... Sanders, and Hobbs will be fine.;)

Its too bad he could never keep his attitude in check. We could be talkin him up as one of the greatest. Now he is one of the greatest head cases in NFL. He is going to kill that QB. I feel bad for Juron, he is a good coach and guy. The last thing he needs to worry about is if TO is happy.

I am a major Chiefs fan and have been for as long as I can remeber. You can tell by my ID "arohed". As for picking up Cassell and Vrabel...I think a pass rush would have been better than another average QB and a LB than has surely lost a step. Hopefully, a big bastard that is lightning fast around the corner will have a hankering to come to KC and we can send Larry Johnson packing!!!:hurray::beers:

The Chiefs will most likely be switching to 34 defense and in that defense Vrabel is a pass rusher. All though he is 33 years old, I think that they brought him in to help with the transition to the 34. He can help teach both our linebackers and defensive ends the system. Pioli will most likely select a OL or DL, that is his MO in upper round 1 (Richard Seymor).

As far as the QB in the deal, I think that Cassel alone is worth the compensation. If I recall right the Texans gave up two 2nd round picks for Matt Schaub. He was also a backup that started a few games when Vick was hurt, But he never started 15 games in a row. He did have similar success but I would give the edge to Cassel.

I dont think that LJ is going anywhere. No one is going to trade for him and his fat contract. The running back market is flooded and it seems that no one is willing to pay RB's nearing the age of 30. I dont think he will be cut because of the cap charge from his signing bonus. I have seen stranger things though. I think we should hope for the best with him when we go back to a more conventional offense. He could never get going running out of the shotgun. I would hope that would be enough to change his attitude enough to get one more good year out of him and then they could cut him if need be. Good player bad tude. Always has been. Good to see there are some Chief fans at TC.
