I've looked at threads and still don't know.
I did the following voltage test with the car not running and key on. Is my motor fired? or something else?
Wipers don't work or make any noise. Push the switch in and you can hear the washer click.
Fuse gets hot but doesn't blow if wiper switch is turned on.
Switch: 12.1 volts all three wires with wipers on OFF.
0.0 at black and L blue at first click
10.5 at Dblue 1st click(low?)
6.4 at Black, 10.7 D blue, and 0 L blue on 2nd click (high?)

Motor: 12.1 on Yel, L blue, and D blue (3 prong) OFF
12.1 on Yel and Black (2 prong) in OFF

10.5 Yel, 0 L blue, 0 D blue on Low
10.5 at both 2 prong on Low

10.7 Yel, 0 L bl, 6.4 D blue on High
10.7 at both 2 prong on High
I need a genius  to let me know. Hate to order a new one if nothing is wrong with this original one.:noway:
Thanks in advance,
Herbie

Herbie,

In the past i had a wiper motor problem and after lots of checking it was the ground that was messed up, how i found out about it was i just hooked up an external ground and touched the motor and it worked.

Tried that. Didn't work. I did run a ground to the switch legs and got a "click". Still no wipers.
I also have been working on cleaning the fuse block and I put in a new light switch. Just checked and the battery is low. I will post new voltage numbers as soon as the battery gets done chargine.
Thanks

Charged the battery 12.1 volt and edited the #'s for voltage in the first post.
Here is a better chart for comparison:

Motor OFF 1st Click 2nd Click
Yellow 12.1 10.5 10.7
Light Blue 12.1 0 0
Dark Blue 12.1 0 6.4
Switch
Black 12.1 0 6.4
Dark Blue 12.1 10.5 10.7
Light Blue 12.1 0 0

Is the wiper motor shot?
Thanks for any replies

Fuses should not get hot. Be sure the fuse and fuse clips are clean and the fuse clips fit the fuse tightly. If the clips have corrosion, clean the clips with some fine sandpaper wrapped around a pencil, bend them slightly to fit the fuse tight. As a test you could run a wire from the battery to yellow wire (use a inline fuse near battery) to bypass the fusebox.

The wiper/washer motor always has 12v anytime the key is on, (yellow wires) when the wiper switch is turned on one or more of the wires are grounded to make it work. The ltblue and black are both grounded for low speed the ltblue only for high speed. The dkblue grounds to latch the washer pump for one cycle. Make sure the wiper switch is well grounded to the dash and the wiper motor is well grounded to the firewall.

Thanks Greg,
As you can see in my voltage #'s listed, with the key on and the wiper off - all wires at the motor and the switch have 12.1 volts.
On low, the ltblue and black are grounded at the switch. ltblue and dk blue are grounded at the motor.
On high, only the ltblue is grounded at both.
Sounds like the switch is doing what it is supposed to.
The voltage at dkblue at the switch and yellow at the motor does drop some when the switch is turned on either low or high.
I have cleaned the fuse block by taking it apart and cleaning inside and out. All fuses light up bright with a test light.
I have tried running a wire from a good ground to the motor....no help.
I will try the jumper wire from the batter + to the yellow but....there is already voltage there.
At the motor, from the top down, the wires are yellow, lt blue, and then dk blue. The yellow jumpers over to the washer. A black goes to the washer. This is correct I believe.
Fuse does NOT get hot and has 12.1 volts when wipers are on off. When the wipers are turned on at switch, then it starts getting hot.
Any and all replies appreciated. Electrical is not my thing but I'm learning more all the time.
Thanks so much

I like to follow up for those who replied and also for those with a problem....maybe this will help them.
I was told by the last body shop who removed the wiper motor to paint the firewall that the wiper motor was good.
I pulled the wiper off the firewall a while ago.
Took it to my table and test it. Nothing.
I then took it apart.
Full of rust and pretty much fell apart.
I will be ordering a new one.
I think the fuse got hot because the switch was on and nothing could move. This pretty much replaces anything that was original.
That's what I get for letting it sit for 17 years......I sure get a big smile now though :D.

Went through this with my 66 earlier this year. Bought a new wiper motor.

After changing it, and then having the dash out, and some help from here, I finally figured out that the system grounds at the switch, which must have a good good ground to the dash, which must ground to the body, etc.

The park switch ground through one of the mounting bolts.

Got it all cleaned up and tight, and both new and old motors work!
