I recently replaced my intake manifold and soon after had problems with backfires. It was a gradual problem and now the car will barely start. It ran well at idle but as soon as it was put in gear the trouble started. the timing, vacuum advance, and compression have all been checked and passed. I am running out of ideas and any help would be great! P.S. i have a '72 malibu with 350 motor 700r4 trans. also some backfires were out of exhaust and some through edelbrock 650 carb. Thanx!

Hi, you might take a look at your dist rotor, seen them to burn and cause a bad miss an backfire,also check it for vacumn leaks around intake an carb base. good luck Slim
