Need some help. I am restoring a 70 chevelle ss non functioning dome hood. The underside of the hood where a flapper door would be shows signs of having some sort of support piece or something that was there but has been removed. The original welds are there but i cant figure out what is missing. Can anyone help me with this or does anyone possible have a link to a photo of the underside of theirs so that i may be able to figure this out.

Is the back of the hood open,as though from the drivers seat you could see the motor compartment through it? I have heard of guys taking out the slim piece of metal that normally blocks that area. I have considered doing it myself.
