: Do you use parts from other makes of cars in yours ?
GAGE 1959 Feb 26th, 09, 1:37 AM Just wondering if anyone else uses parts from other car manufactures
in their car....ford, buick , dodge, etc... ?
I have a 73 elky 454 with 9"rear out of an early ranchero ( no narrowing required
for 10" rims ). Tilt telescopic out of a vette, porsche 911 seats, 1967 gto hurst
duelgate his / her shifter, and an ac condenser out of a fiat that has its own
fan shroud and elect fan mounted behind passenger head light ducted through
the inner fender well. I guess you could call it a morphadite .
rchevellea Feb 26th, 09, 3:54 AM yeah i have a few things from other makes/ years , i have the ford starter sol. for help in the hot summer here and hot starts..my seats are from a 95-96 cavalier, other than after market stuff like all. radiator and electric fan, but off the top of my head i cant think of anything from other makes or years
novaderrik Feb 26th, 09, 4:12 AM use whatever you got on hand- that's what hot rodding is supposed to be all about.

This is in my 59 Elky----the factory 16 gallon tank was just not gonna work with the 454.

Scotch Feb 26th, 09, 3:03 PM Oh sure- it's part of hot rodding.
My wagon has a Ford 9-inch, trans internals from a Viper inside an F-body case (T56), among other things. Lots of one-off and custom-made stuff too...like the hood pins. I adapted stock '71 Chevelle hood pins to my '67, so I had to make the stands underhood to get them in the right place on the hood (not on a curved surface). Stuff like that...
zeke67 Feb 26th, 09, 7:45 PM Ford starter solenoid. I have a junction block on the firewall from an S-10. Steering box, front brakes, transmission, radiator overflow are later model GM stuff.
Chevello Feb 26th, 09, 9:46 PM I'd use anything if it did what I wanted it to do. I don't care what it came off of, if it fits, works and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, I'm in! :D

Dcairns560 Feb 26th, 09, 10:36 PM Sections of my floor are from the side panel of a Ford van. My electric fan is a Mark VIII Ford fan. I had to sand the tiny Ford logo off the fan!
69badboy Feb 27th, 09, 10:22 AM I have a vanity mirror out of a 63 Pontiac on the sun visor in the El Camino. :boring: I know.
