I have an Edelbrock 350 engine with only 5,000 miles on it. When engine warms up and after driving a bit, oil starts to leak out of an unused bolt hole near the fuel pump on front side of engine. I tried plugging the hole with a bolt but then oil seeme to blow out of dipstick tube. Can anybody give me any idea what may be wrong?

I think that the "unused" hole in front of the fuel pump should have a SHORT bolt in it. It actually goes through to the pump push rod. If you have oil blowing out the dip stick hole, somethings up. Have you checked your PCV valve and the associated breather?

Thanks. I did see a loose vacuum hose leading to the PCV valve. I drove car for about 15 minutes and no oil leak. Could something that simple really have caused oil to leak out of engine? Thanks

I had the same problem with a tired 305. Oil started coming out of the hole near the fuel pump from the increasing pressure from blowby. (I was told that the hole is there to allow you to hold the pushrod up while installing the pump). I plugged the hole with RTV and a short bolt...make sure the bolt you use doesn't interfere with the pump pushrod.
This fixed the problem until I got on the freeway. At sustained high RPM's, the blowby was exceeding the capacity of the PCV system to remove it and oil came out everywhere!
As mentioned before, if oil is coming out of the dipstick tube, there are other problems :(
