I've noticed that my chevelle has a bit of a sputtering/hesitation when I take off from a stop. The problem seems to get worse as the engine warms up. Any ideas to where I should start looking for the problem? Thanks.

Btw, the hesitation starts right when I push the pedal and lasts for a second at most. When the RPMs rise the engine smooths out perfectly. Thanks again.

There could be many reasons...
It may be that you are running too lean. When the engine warms up, the choke opens (more air) and it gets leaner. Adjust your carb.
Before you adjust your carb, replace your spark plugs & wires, if it has been a while. Adjust your points & set the timing. Clean/replace your air filter. Check/clean your fuel filter. Check/replace your fuel pump.
Good luck,
Theo.
P.S. Nice car!!!
With the engine off. Look down the carb and open the
throttle about half way. You chould see a stong squirt of fuel going down the carb. If not. Time to rebuild the carb

I myself have the same problem with my 68 el camino. not stock though, its got a 283, and im thinking it may be a vacuum problem. can anyone tell me exactly where the vac lines are supposed to go? i have no diagram.
[edit] mind you it doesnt get worse as my motor warms up..

Is the accelerator pump adjusted properly? Sounds like the tip in of fuel isn't right!
