: White Interior ?
KMR Feb 24th, 09, 12:48 AM I am planning on redoing my jade green bench seat interior to white bucket seat interior. I just bought some used buckets (need recovering). The original plan was to go black with the interior. but I reconsidered with the convert top and no A/C. I have pretty much settled on white. IMO it looks sharp. I know Legendary has gotten a lot of postive endorsements and I would like to use their stuff. The problem is that they don't make headrest covers in white nor armrests nor rear upper panels. What to do.........I was looking into vinyl dye, but once again the forum has not had alot of good response with the white color match. I believe PUI makes the needed items in white, but they do not have the same reviews. Has anyone faced this issue with a white interior. The white that I like is the 72 white. (not the 70 pearl). Any advise and photos would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
ss1970chev454 Feb 24th, 09, 8:10 AM IMO, if change to a white interior, you need to change the top to white too. Maybe a combination of white and black.
SEM makes a spray white, and because of your dark colors, it will just take muliple layers of white to cover. Replace seat covers, door panels, etc. with new white replacements. Paint all the hard plastic parts, including the headrests. Good luck.
I would think a white top would be impossible to keep clean... It would look nice, just a PITA. Also, IMO the top would have to be a nice match with the stripes or that does not look sharp. I am just thinking of the white pop when the top is down (and the lack of heat). As of now green on green is boring.
Anyway how is the color match with the white? Do you some experience with it?
fishhead Feb 24th, 09, 9:51 AM Love a white interior...
TCSS1970 Feb 24th, 09, 10:12 AM I personnelly think PUI has made some huge improvements on quality. I just put a set of bucket seat covers on myself from PUI and I am well satisfied. I don't know how they'll hold up but they seem to be well made and looked and fit good.
BillsCamino Feb 24th, 09, 10:26 AM I changed the interior in our '72 Malibu convertible from black to white using an all PUI (bench) interior kit.
Fit and finish was fine!
Made a BIG difference in the summer with the top down.
When I bought the convert it already had a white top...Ascot blue exterior.

Who has used SEM white dye?
Kevin, check your PM, I've done a few of them.
Chevelle_Nut Feb 24th, 09, 5:37 PM One of my DD is a Sunbird with a white top and white interior. It is a PITA to keep the top clean. If it is going to be garaged and used on clear days and kept clean it will be fine. Mine sits outside and if I get stuck in the rain road film just streaks the top. Once they get dirty it is almost impossible to get the dirt out of the canvas.
our 71 conv has white top/interior and it is a bit to keep clean. That being said do buy all new parts in white and don't try to dye anything as it just wont come out the same... You can keep the top/interior clean even if you drive it. Baby wipes are your friend on the seats and a quality cleaner for the top. This car has been driven everywhere and the biggest thing is to stay away from the tractor trailers belting out soot!
