I've got a 69 console that the front mount ( U shaped ABS bracket ) is broken off. I don't even have the broken piece to plastic weld back together. I thinking about possibly making a mold from another console and trying to recreate this mounting bracket. I could probably fashion one from JB Weld but I'm wondering if that will be too brittle and crack when the mounting screws are tightened down. I've been experimenting with melting down some ABS shavings but I'm afraid if I get it loose enough to form in a mold it will never set up. Any ideas on what to use to form a new mounting bracket?

I have used a piece of metal bent to the same shape and I attached it with an epoxy and a couple of rivets. It had enough plastic on the sides so it was easy to bond and blend in. Once it was painted it looked very natural and it fit perfect.

POR 15 Patch is also some tough stuff for bonding alot of things together.

I know I could bend up one out of aluminum but I was trying to keep with similar materials. I was kinda wondering what places that repair them as a service use. Think they use Plastex? If you had to repair more than one bracket that would be a lot of Plastex. Some of the hobby/craft places sell a liquid plastic but it is expensive and is better suited for a pouring type mold.

I've laid up strips of fiber glass in the past.
