I recently had a power steering setup installed in my 65 chevelle. It worked great for about two weeks and then the steering wheel started to chatter when I would turn it in a parked position. I tightend the alternator belt and that remedied the problem. About two weeks later I had the same problem. The belt that runs from the steering pump looked loose so I tightened that. This didn't help. The belt (power steering pump belt) woobles a lot when I turn the wheel in park or when the car is crawling. The hoses shake a little too. When the car is driving everything operates smoothly. The power steering box is new. Could the pump be bad? It has to be one or the other doesn't it? Please help.

Check the brackets that mount the pump to the engine they have a tendence to break on the short water pump cars. My 68 broke it exhaust manifold to PS pump bracket, now I switch to 69 up long water pump assesories and brakets.
