: Can anyone ID this wheel?
raugusti Feb 22nd, 09, 11:16 PM Can anyone ID this wheel? It came as one of the rollers on my '65 convertible project so it has a Chevelle bolt pattern. The finned part in the center is actually molded plastic. The flat on the front is stamped Pat. Pend. AN., the back has an H and 061.
Here is a link to a pic of the back of the wheel: http://s664.photobucket.com/albums/vv4/raugusti/?action=view¤t=P2220014.jpg

'65 and '70 Malibu Convertibles.
dyno jonn Feb 22nd, 09, 11:36 PM If it's a 15" wheel, I'd guess it is a Monte Carlo Styled wheel.
Dave427 Feb 22nd, 09, 11:51 PM I agree 73-77 Monte Carlo

raugusti Feb 23rd, 09, 9:02 AM Thanks guys, but it is definitly a 14" wheel, the tire size on it is an F70-14. That rules out Monties I believe.

Yup, Pontiac wheel was the first thing I though of...
Bowtie70ss Feb 23rd, 09, 4:40 PM What about a Monza wheel?
69SS3964Spd Feb 23rd, 09, 9:27 PM I think some of the 78-80 Monte Carlos had a 14" that looked like that. I think there was one that had these wheels at a salvage I went to a couple weeks ago.
raugusti Feb 24th, 09, 9:35 AM Thanks, all that gives me a couple of places to start looking.
Those are 1973 - 1975 Chevy Turbine I wheels. They are 14" and came standard on 1973 - 74 El Camino SS, plus 1973 Chevelle SS wagons. They were also offered as an option on 1973 - 74 Chevelles with bias ply tires, 1973 - 75 Camaro, 1975 Nova. They are somewhat rare today and would make a 73 Chevelle SS wagon owner very happy.
Chevy made a 15" version called the Turbine II. It was offered on the Monte Carlo 1973 - 77, and was standard on the Landau.
The comment about being a Pontiac wheel is very close to the truth, it is actually a cousin to the Pontiac honeycomb wheel. They are all molded urethane on a steel wheel.
Here's a photo I have in my showroom from the 1973 El Camino brochure (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/showphoto.php/photo/5606/size/big/ppuser/335). Note the wheels on the SS.
6704gto Feb 24th, 09, 7:09 PM i think it a monte carlo wheel
grandsport Feb 24th, 09, 7:20 PM I had a 73 Laguna I bought new with the turbine wheels.
raugusti Mar 1st, 09, 11:47 PM Thanks Cam, that definitely looks like that's it.
