My driveshaft snapped at about the 660 ft mark. The driveshaft has been replaced, but do I need to have the transmission looked at? A visual check of the outer case shows no cracks or obvious damage.Any help on identifying potential issues would be helpful. Thanks.

Did the driveshaft break in the middle? Usually they take out the tailshaft bushing from whipping around under the car. If the shaft didn't have a lot of room to whip around and it spun kind of true, the trans should be ok. When it broke, how soon before you killed the engine?

After a visual inspection of the transmission and a check of the tail housing bushing as Ray suggested try the transmission. Low speed/idle part throttle first then then increase load and power. I have had and have seen the loss of a drive shaft with no damage to the trans. Other didn't turn out so well. Let us know.

I hadn't thought about the converter to be honest. may as well do it right and pull the trans out and check it and the converter - especially since we still have snow on the ground now. Thanks for the feedback.
