I have three car covers that I need to clean. One is a good thick one that feels like cotton and the other two are made of the slick type matterral.

Can you put them in the washing machine? Or is there a better way to get them clean.

I wash my car covers at the laundry mat, in the biggest front loading washer that can be found. NOTE: not all laundry mats have the largest of the front-loading washers. Fantasik is a common cleaning liquid recommended for cleaning the car covers. To drive, I bring the cover home wet and install in on the car like you normally would. Dries out perfect. Doing this when the weather is nice, obviously is better at drying out the cover quickly.

I agree with Alan about using Fantastic as the detergent. Don't use laundry soap, you'll never get it out of the cover. Ask me how I know.

One more thing, make sure the washer type is not the agitating, just bought a new one, and that was one of the special instructions on cleaning, its a California Car Cover, assume that is probably good advise for all covers.
