sorry for the off the wall question but its my wifes car and i wont get to play with my malibu if i dont ask it. it has a pinging noise on acceleration and a bit more with ac on, been to the shop twice to reset ECM but still pinging,have used all sorts of fuel grade but still no help. hope you can help thanks,its a 2001 ford taurus v6 with 50264 miles, thanks john.

I have access to an online "fix" database. I found one reference to a similar problem that was fixed by replacing the MAF sensor. Does not mean it will fix yours though. Have you been taking it to the dealer, or an independent shop ? Sometimes the dealers will have a better database to draw from to fix problems like this one. Depends on how up to date the shop is that you are taking it to.
