66 chevelle ss has a bouncing speedometer needle. First thought it was bad cable. Changed cable but still same problem. At steady speeds not to bad, but if getting on it bounces within a 30 mph area.
Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas. Also we did have the gear in the tranny replaced also.
Thanks,

sounds like you may have a bad speedo head or it could be giummed up internally. Are you from Bristol Tenn. or PA?

Dan. I had the same problem, and in my case it turned out to be a broken gear http://www.si.hhs.nl/~rob/images/scanned/688d_ass_spd.jpg
If you have parts, yes you can repair it yourself. Hope this helps.

Dan. Sorry to be this late. Yes, that's inside the speedo, below the odometer. There are more pics on my website.
