Im getting a 2004r transmission for my chevelle , does anyone know what the rpm difference would be at 60mph between a lock up converter and a non lock up converter .

It depends on what type of non stall converter you are talking about and what your gearing is. Loose converter and a 2.55 rear gear and you might have a pretty good spread. Realistically my rpm's drop in my 4l80e about 300 or so when my converter locks in 4th running around 60mph.

When a converter locks up you usualy drop around 200rpm. Your more noticeable rpm drop will be on the OD ratio 0.67, a three speed is 1.00.

In general 200-300 rpm is the diff in rpm between locked & non locked converter.

I believe these transmissions really need lock up in OD to live.
