Has anyone had any good or bad experience with alan grove brackets? I've got a 72 chevelle that I'm going to use a sanden 508 a/c compressor and mount it on the passenger side. I'm mounting the alternator on the driver side. I'm doing this because I have the tall valve covers and I want a clean appearance rather than having that huge a/c hose laying over my chromed out engine. I plan on having the brackets chromed. I'd just like to get some input on the quality and how well the belts line up after installation. If there are better brackets to be had please let me know.
Thanks,
Dan

I've purchased brackets from Alan Groves and found them to be helpful and knowledgeable. The guy I spoke with really knew his products and when I told him I had a '71 Chevelle he knew what would and wouldn't work for my setup. I would definitely buy from them again.

I've only used the alternator bracket for the electric water pump and it fit great.

I purchased alt and A/C brackets from them. Great people to deal with - very knowledgeable. Would buy from them anytime.

I purchased the exact bracket configuration you are considering and was very happy with them. I also bought their mid-mount PS bracket which works on A-body with DS alternator just fine.
Their brackets tend to be made up of flat plate pieces and round spacers. Simple but effective. They are also simple to modify creatively... my LWP alternator bracket now does SWP alternator for example. Just cut down some spacers and got some shorter bolts. My mid-mount PS pump bracket is still being used with SWP too but with with a lot more creative fabrication involved.
Their stuff is heavily biased towards function over form and is not "blingy" enough for a lot of people. But I have never heard a bad word about them.

Their brackets work great and the sales staff even better. When I ordered my alternator bracket from them, the sales person even asked if I had power steering or was going to add it, since the bracket I wanted would not work with power steering, as the alternator belt would hit the power steering pump. Not many other companies would even bother informing you of things like that.

If you don't have an A/C compressor, alternator, p.s. pump, water pump yet, you might consider going with a Hyper drive 2 v-belt system. Alan Grove is good stuff but as you say you will probably want to chrome it which will start adding to the cost. The Hyper Drive system is clean, neat, and simple. It is a polished billet frame with polished A/C compressor, polished alternator, polished water pump, and polished p.s. pump and all polished pulleys. (You will need a remote p.s. reservoir.) Mine is on a '66 396 so it has the short water pump. What is nice about this setup is that everything mounts in front of the heads so you have a real clean, open looking engine. I am running a clutch fan yet which is very rare so I have to squeeze the radiator forward just a bit. I just fired my engine for the first time in a year just this evening and things are looking good. I have pictures on my website of my setup but the link is broken. You can see pictures of it by googling Mr. Chevy Nut. The price of this setup is in the $1300 range. All things considered, I think it is a good deal.
