i have a 400 trans out of a 70's chevy truck. i want to put it in my 454 72 chevelle, but there is one problem. the trans has a bolt on yoke in it. a friend of mine said i would have to get a driveshaft built to fit and im thinking the trans will not work. will it work or do i need to find another trans:confused:

I have used them before. It all depends on the output shaft itself because I have seen different ones. Unbolt the truck yoke and slide a 400 yoke into the tranny and see how far it slides in.

The transmission will work fine. You have two options...you can have a stock slip yoke shortened a bit at your local driveshaft shop (this is what I did with mine) or you can buy a special slip yoke made for this purpose from Denny's Driveshaft. I bought the yoke from Denny's, but have not installed it yet, as the shortened stock yoke has been working fine for a couple of years now. Link to Denny's... http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/
