True Story....Hello everybody. I got a 1970 SS LS5 on Ebay. The Jury's still out on whether or not this is a true LS5, but I don't really care either way. I had a 1972 Malibu that I got in High School, that I lost in a Flood in 1982. I tried to restore it. But at 20 years old, young and impatient, I sold it off. Then in 1987 my Wife had Triplet Boys, and in 93..another Son. So I've been pretty busy trying to make a living in the Family business. My Brother and I own a small Crane, and Trucking Company in Northern California.

I've always dreamed of having a 1970 "Big Block" SS, so when I saw this one on Ebay, I bid on it. Not thinking I had a Snowballs chance of winning. I was the High Bidder, but did not reach the Reserve Price. No Surprise..Right? The next Day I get a Second Chance offer. So I buy it from the Guy. The Wife and I drive down the Coast and pick it up that Weekend. It's in pretty decent shape too. It needs to be restored, but it's a good start. I can't wait to tear it apart. I'm sure I'll be a regular around here. I hope I can give back as much as I take!

Welcome Jon and I can feel your excitement. Sounds like a nice car get us some pics. Don't get in to big a hurry and start tearing into it like a mad man. Do a lot of research and ask a lot of questions and searches on this site. Recommend a full set of shop and assy. manuals before starting. Form a good plan of action and take a ton of pics of everything before you tear anything apart. As you tear things apart take detailed pics as you take it apart. Bag and label everything and even things you'll think you don't want to keep. Remember the tortis and slow and steady wins the race. Have fun and keep us posted.

Welcome Jon,
I have a 70 chevelle. I agree if it's drivable, drive it first some. Enjoy the car and don't start tearing into until you really know what you want to do. Most people start restorations and never finish them because they cost more then they think.

Hello and welcome Jon. If you want a second opinion on it being a real SS and LS5, we can certainly do that.

Santa Rosa. and thank you all for the warm Welcome. I don't have any decent Pictures yet, but Here is the one from my Phone. I pulled the drive line off and had the Tranny Yoke repaired, and the Driveline balanced. My improvised Carlift. LOL

That's great advice, Thank you. I've already got the Heater Core out, and the Back Seat. I'm trying to get that Trim out. The piece below the rear Window, above the Package Tray. It rusted through. It looks like the Window will have to come out to get it.

I'm going to follow your advice. The ole Memory ain't what it used to be. Well time to get to work here.

Congrats on your purchase, judging by your family business it sounds like you have all sorts of make shift car lifts:D. A fisher body manual, and a parts catalouge from a parts supplier are always good places to start, its always good to check if the part you might think is junk is no longer being produced
Have fun!

Thanks. I just ordered the Fisher 1970 Manual. Not a good Day here. Had a 50 Ton broke down this Morning, and now My 200 Ton Blew a Hydraulic Hose. The new Mechanics Truck is getting a workout Today.:(
