Ok, got the new (used) Holley carb (thanks Steve!) and manifold (thanks Louie!) on. Also put on the new (used) HEI (thanks Rick!). All seems well most of the time. However, when I'm accelerating (not hard, just getting up to speed) it feels like I'm running out of gas, sometimes just cruising at freeway speed feels the same way. Low speed driving and full throttle are fine, no missing, no nothing.

Do I have some clogged jets or something? I'm new to Holley carbs, so be gentle...

Thanks...

I'm thinking that your idle mixture is not correct. There are two screws, one on each side of the carb. Turn them in, one at a time and then back them out 1 1/2 turns. Then put a vacume gauge on the carb and tweek them in or out and try to obtain the greatest vacume you can.
If that doesn't do it, you might have to adjust your squirters. Does it bog for a split second when you mash the gas?

Cecil,
The same thing is happening to me, I filled up the other day just to see if I was low on fuel (gas gauge doesn't work), but had put gas in just a few days prior. I don't drive my car much, but it shouldn't be out of gas so soon. Anyway, to make a short story great, my car is doing the same thing. I have a new (6 months old) Holley Carb and Intake on it.

Did you get your money order yet? Thanks again for being so patient and not cussing me, or putting a bad post about me on here smile.gif
I know you wouldn't do that, but I do want to really really thank you and to let everyone know what a "stand up" guy you were for helping me out.

No bogging down, in fact it runs pretty awesome. This is a "four corner" idle, so it's probably just adjusting all four that I need more patience for. I tend to get it close and then want to drive! Does "adjust your squirters" mean the accelerator pumps, or jets, or what?

Dude, don't ever worry about the little stuff. I had actually forgoten all about it until I was cleaning out my email the other day and came across a message from you... ;)
