Work and some other time consuming issues put the Camino on the back burner for a while.. now it's full speed ahead trying to get this thing done before it get's HOT.

The headliner install went OK. Found the OPG kit was far from a 'ideal' fit. Took a little tweeking but it's in, here's a shot of the install, some 'finished shots to come soon...

with the windlace, visors, dome light,, it's starting to look like something near completion again!!. Working through making a hardboard template for the back wall, ordered a piece of carpet (to match the floor carpet kit) to cover the back-board with, then I can trim the floor carpet in and permenantly mount the console, seats and threasholds. WHEW,, what a job the interior has been.

Looked everywhere on the planet for a set of 17" Cragar 610 SS wheels to match a pair of 16's I found here.. not to be. It's a discontinued wheel so.....
have a set of 612 series Cragar SS's in 17x7 for the front and 18x8 for the rear on their way,, should be here Wednesday. I'm not a big fan of the big-@$$ wheel with rubber band tires, so I picked a Michelin "Pilot Sport A/S plus" 255x45-ZR18 for the rear, and 235-50-ZR17 for the front.

Like everything,, you change one thing and you make headaches somewhere else. The taller 27.1" rear tire really screwed up my final gear ratio with the 700r4 trans. So,, out with the old 3.31 stock gears and a auburn gear posi and 3.73 gears will also be here this week.
Then only things left are to plumb the trans cooler lines, and plumb the fuel lines from the tank to the fuel rails.

Trust me guys, you don't know what a feeling of accomplishment it was to finally turn the key and see the dash light up. Been 20 years since this Camino has seen life at all, and it SURE wasn't anything like this last time it lived :) .....

Looking good. Do you have any shots of what goes along the bottom of the rear window? Right now there is some type of tack strip. I would assume it's headliner matarial but that doesn't seem right. I can't remember and right now that's about all I have left to do to have my interior buttoned up. I also need to bolt in my seatbelts once I determine where the mounting points should be.

Brian, the same plastic trim that goes at the front of the headliner, around the top and sides of the rear window also goes along the bottom of the rear. I need to get some photo's of the entire interior as it is today for my 'progress album' and I'll get some shots of the rear trim. The biggest headache so far is that stinking plastic trim as it makes the bends around the top of the rear window. Tried heating the stuff with a heat gun (melted 2 sticks before I realized that ain't gonna work) then cut the reinforcment ribs away and used light heat. It is OK, but just OK, not 'right' IMO.

Anybody have any tricks to make the bends smooth?

Looks awsome and has came a long way. I still love that color combo. What are you going to do with that posi and 3.31's?

Thanks guys. Spent some time last night getting the trans plumbing layed out,,,, getting the lines routed when the exhaust isn't completely on the car is 'challanging' isn't it(LOL) Guess I forgot that little item didn't I. Just because the Pypes system is sitting in a box, and partially hung under the car,,, out of sight out of mind !

68 elky.. Sorry I keep saying 3.31's,,,, No it is the 10bolt 3.36 open diff. Sorry, I have 3.31 stuck in my head since day one and I know better! Just doesn't seem to come out that way. Guess I have to admit to a touch of senility (shuuuush, don't tell my wife I said that!)

I'm trying so hard NOT to let this one turn into a 'hot-rod' and inspiration for that was the open diff. Figured I would keep this one nice and mild. Even at that,, the little E-tech 327 runs through Engine Analyzer making 378HP. But it's up there at pretty high RPM's as would be expected for a 327. That's what prompted the gear change. Peak power is up 5700 and above, I wanted a cruising rpm in OD of 2200-2400 @ 75, and at least 2000-2500 around town in 3rd at 40-50mph. The 3.31's (err ummm 3.36's) had to go. If ya gotta change something,, might as well make it posi right!! LOL,, whatta money pit!

17x7's on the front with P235-50-zr17 ,and 18x8's on the rear with P255-45-zr18's. . Don't have the right lug nut yet but they should be here tomorrow. Was just holding my breath hopeing I was going to be able to live with the stance and look,,, I think it will grow on me. ;) BTW,, NO clearance issues at all.

I like it. It looks good to me. I would lower it a little bit, but thats just me. I REALLY like the color! Whats it called?

bluefishgary, The backspace is 4" on the 17x7's and 4.5" on the 18x8's. A word of caution,, Cragars site is a little misleading. If you get the 612 series of wheels there is a SPECIAL CONICAL BULGE lug nut you need for the early GM 7/16" lug studs. Everyone will try to sell you just a acorn / taper seat lug,,, that ain't right. You need these special 27802 'bulge lugs' from Cragar that take up the extra space between the 7/16 lug and thge 1.2" hole in the wheel. Like this,, crazy looking eh! http://www.cragarwheel.com/images/products/27802-4.jpg

Willis, the entire front suspension is new,, springs, bushings, ball joints, tierod pieces, gearing box,,, everything. I hope it 'settles an inch or so once it rolls under it's own power and sees some street 'exersize' ,, but I ain't tearing the thing apart for 2" drop spindles....... yet ;)

Color is 2007 Chrysler "Inferno Red" with Crystal pearl top coat" Cool name for Chrysler red ain't it. VERY cool paint. More light more it POPS, less light the more subdued it is. Take a look at the Chrysler 300's from last year,, that's the color. I wanted to stay 'somewhat' close to the old "medera maroon' but as with everything else on this build,, bring it up to current technology.
