Bumper Pad, wiw?

NOS bumper pads were not available seperately, but were only available when ordered as a complete SS bumper(with pad already glued to bumper). I actually have one complete in the wrapper. (Sorry, will never be for sale). If you see one that is loose and not glued to the bumper, that is a repro.

I paid "considerably" more at $650. Showed up in Hemmings Motor News several years ago. Roger Ausley was selling it. One and only time my early Priority mail copy paid off. He said he was swamped by calls after mine!!!!!!! Feel real lucky to have it. I have no idea what it would sell for today............I am sure a lot. Love to find a few more like Daves $250 deal!!!!!!!! Maybe Spring Swap Meet season shakes one loose, but I doubt it.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
What would be the difference between the repo and the NOS? He was saying that you can run your finger on the white bead and you should be able to stick your nail between the black part and the bead. Is this correct?

The original pad on my 70 SS396, you could remove the white bead that outlines the edge of the pad. It was round, like screen door lace. I used to take it out, clean it with lacquer thinner to make it white again, and push it back in with the tool you would use to replace the lace in the screen door.
The letters, however, were glued in too good to remove, and they were pretty flush with the pad.

Yeah, to a kid making $3.85 an hour, $250 was a ton. I only paid $900 for the car, and it was solid.

You are right!!!!! It was a lot of money then. How time does change perspectives. I remember at Carlisle around the same time, looking at an NOS 68 Chevelle Plastic Dash in the box for $185 dollars thinking........man, that is crazy!!!!!!!! Never seen another one of those.......and have had to pay more than this for a perfect used uncracked one!!!!!!! The good old days were good.....but even then we had a hard time affording this hobby!!!!!!

I know Jim, but I have to strongly disagree with your tag line about the car flipper.............I know some breakfast chefs that have turned over less pancakes than you have Chevelles!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:thumbsup:

Well I kept all the Good Ones !!!! I only regret selling 3 The 67 SS396 Zone rep loaded car, 1969 L-89 Red Conv, and the 70 LS-5 Loaded conv AKA Red /White and Blue one. But we all have to do what we have to at certain times of our lives !!!! Yes I have had Hundreds of real SS's and well over 50 Chevelle convertibles over the years and had fun with all of them !!!!
