This is a broken washer pump piece for a 69 malibu. My Pop is a machinist and can make this out of aluminum. My question is, that if I get this done in billet aluminum, is it going to be to much for the motor to turn? Or is it a good idea? Any info will help. Thanks,

Brad

I don't think its a good idea. The parts that that cam operate are steel which would gall the aluminum quickly. Thats why that piece is made out of nylon. Its its own lubrication. There is a considerable amount of pressure against that cam when it operates.

It occurs to me that there are several million of those cams lying around in junk yards all over the nation. I imagine you could find a perfectly good replacement for yours with a small amount of searching. Good Luck!
