This was pretty funny this afternoon. Wife drags me to look at this living room set across town. Lady had a smokin deal she needed to get rid of. After we decided we would take it. We decided we would have to go home to get the elcamino to haul the stuff. Well, we had to go home then make 2 round trips in about 3 hours because they had to leave at a certain time. We decided it can be done, but it would be rushing it a bit. I get home and clean out the 68, my daughter is wondering why im running around in such a rush. We explain we have to get back and forth twice in 3 hours (25-30 min 1 way). She's like, why dont I drive the red elcamino, and you take the gray one? DOH! In all the rushing around, I forgot the other elcamino is legal but has only been driven maybe 40 miles since I got the plates. But, the thing came through like a trooper! jim

My daughter wanted me to help her move.
Only a couple of big items that she could not fit in her car.
I am pretty fussy about what is hauled in my pick-ups----absolutely nothing will hang over the sides or rest on the rails. Am especially particular about the Ranger.
Completely forgot about the old Dodge pickup----and I drive it almost every day.
I just happened to be driving the Ranger the day she asked.
Took 4 trips in the Dodge-----The Ranger would've taken 8.
Now she is moving again-----this time she will need to rent a truck.
I will be out of town and none of the women in the family want to drive the Dodge.
And--I will not allow them to even attempt to take the Ranger and load it.
Beside the fact that none of the people involved with the move can drive a stick, they really don't have the affection for my trucks like I do----and they WOULD end up scratched up.

I sure agree with that.
I have an excuse when "friends" want me to use the Elco to help them move... a non-operating fiberglass tailgate, and most of the bed floor is .050" aluminum.
That doesn't mean the Elco is non-functional though. The bed carries a pair of slicks and a floor jack (I admit it's aluminum) to, ahem, sporting events.
Just like a soccer van.....

Main problem with the elco is no tunes! I bought a custom auto sound stereo at a yard sale a year or so ago for 5 bucks. I installed it awhile ago in the uncut monte carlo dash (poormans SS dash). Well after this weekend, I finally broke down and bought a 20 dollar behind the seat truck speaker box with a pair of 300w speakers at pep boys. Hooked it up to a yard sale 250W amp and now I have tunes! The stereo has inputs for a CD deck, but I went and got a rca to 1/2" pin adapter cable and can run the MP3 player through it too! Whole setup including wiring, solderless connectors, etc came out to less than 75 bucks! Since the door locks dont work, I dont have to sweat it too much if it disappears. jim
