I don't know if this is the best place to post this, it seems that there are some Marylanders here. I was just curious if anyone else had heard this, there has been some talk around where I work and I have seen first hand what is going on at the track. Some may remember 75&80 shutting down in 10/05, and that a retirement community was going to be built in it's place. Well I've been hearing talk and rumors for the past two years and now it looks like it will be a reality, they say the ground is too sour with all the oil and fuel and coolant that has soaked into it for the past 40 years for it to be able to be fit to build on, not to mention there being no water and sewage nearby. So instead of just letting it sit and rot and pay taxes on the property a few people have gotten together and have started to rebuild good ole' 75&80 , I drive by the track twice a day to and from work and have watched them clean and rebuild the whole place and it definitely looks like it is going to happen. They were shooting for early April but with weather holding production back it might be May, it will only be 1/8 mile but that could change in a few years. So just curious to see if anyone has heard anything similar or anyone who would plan on being there when it finally reopens and lay down some passes.

I have heard similiar info myself.I was working in the area when it closed and saw people stopping by to take pictures of the place before it's impending demise.Spoke to an older gentleman last weekend while looking at a Chevelle two door wagon and mentioned the reopening,he says it's probably more rumor based than truth. Not only did he run at the track during it's heyday but he is still very close to the family who owned and had run the track. Also stated that while the soil condition could have been a contributing factor the final development was not completed due to loss of financial backing.Would also think that it may have been rezoned for residential usage which may make it difficult to reopen. Not trying to be all doom and gloom but that's what I came up with when inquiring myself.Personally hope it does open up again even if it's just an 1/8,never had a chance to run there.

I heard it was reopening as a 1/8 mile track.

I believe Motorweek continued to use the track even after it closed.

Just a new update on friday they had a paver and two rollers at the track, I could see them paving a new return road. and this afternoon there were a buch of pickups and around 8-10 muscle cars sitting it the pits and two cars going down the track. I saw and smelt burning rubber and heard the music of two American V-8's going at it, it looks like they are testing out the track and just might have it opened on April 3?
