Posted this in the El Camino forum but doesn't seem to be getting much traffic so I'll try it here:

I'm getting ready to install a SBC 355 with Dart Iron Eagle heads with angle plugs. I've been all over the forums searching for that 'perfect' fit for my 71 GMC Sprint. There seems to be all kinds of info and opinions about what fits and how to 'make' it fit if it isn't quite right. What I would really like to know is if there is anyone that has the same heads and same vehicle (El Camino or even Chevelle I suppose) that actually has headers that 'fit' properly. Car has factory air, automatic on the column, power steering and power brakes. Anyone?

Hedman 68290 fit well. I have angle plugs. They are 1 5/8 so that would be perfect for your 355.

Thanx for the info Dave. Do you have Darts or the Chevy aluminum heads?

I used the same headers for 2 different engines , the 383 had AFR's and the 427 has Motowns.

Dave:
I also have angle plugs, so I was happy to see your reply. Obviously you get what you pay for, but realisitically how long does the painted finish last on these before it's flaking off? Perhaps Hedman offers the same headers with ceramic coating (?)
Thanks!

I believe they are Hedman 68296.

The paint on the Hedmans last about 30 seconds. I bead blasted mine, then painted them with BBQ paint. Looks good still after 3 years or so.

Thanks, Dave! That's the reality I was looking for!
