4 =1964 model
58 = Malibu Super Sport, 8-cylinder
67 = 2-door convertible
K = built in Kansas City, Mo.
180395 = Sequential Production Number
The sequential starting number for the 1964 Chevelle was 100001 at all Chevelle assembly plants. Each assembly plant sequenced Chevelles of all series/models without regard to specific series/models. For example, if a series 45645 station wagon followed a 45667 Malibu convertible, the sequence number would be one unit higher for the wagon. It's also entirely possible to have the same sequence number from all five 1964 U.S. assembly plants with the only difference between the VINs being the plant code.

Note:
Production at the Kansas City plant exceeded 100,000 units sometime in mid to late June so the VIN sequence from that timeframe to the end of production would be 2nnnnn for the Kansas City plant.

There should be a "Cowl tag" or "trim tag" attached to the firewall next to the brake master cylinder.
That will give you more information as to colors and options as well as a week the car was started.
Copy that info to us or provide a good clear photo for more info.

The car is in the bodyshop. My cusin is thinking of selling it so he can finish resto on his 67 and 69 ss convertibles. How rare would a 64 ss convertible be?
