Hello all, can anyone tell me what size the tower clamps are supposed to be for the 5/8 & 3/4 heater hose. I purchased to sets from Ground up and all the heater hose clamps are the same size. They seem a little big for the 5/8 hose.
Thank you!

The link below shows a diff. size for the 5/8 and 3/4 heater hose. :)

I would think that the 3/4 tower you have would not clamp down enought to seal it up

Mine did not have #s stamped on them. They look the same but look close, there are two sizes. Be cautious when installing. I ruined several until one post advised me to hold the bast with a crescent wrench while tightening. Worked great.

Hey thanks for the install heads up, what I have found to be is there are 2, 5/8 & 2, 3/4. Depending on hose thickness. The thin style hose 5/8 clamp is a 1.0 in the reg or standered 5/8 hose uses a 1 1/16 clamp. The thin 3/4 hose uses a 1 3/16, the reg or standered 3/4 hose uses a 1 1/4. Having said that, I ordered 4, 1.0 in. clamps today from Oldcarstuff.com will be using those on my 5/8 heater hose OE repros with two to spare. I slid a 1 1/16 ( for the 5/8 thick hose?) clamp over some gates 3/4 heater hose and it had plenty of room I will be using them on my 3/4 OE repro hoses so in my opinion the 1 3/16 & the 1 1/4 will be to large for the OE style 3/4 heater hose. Hope this info may help someone else.

Is it stamped into the clamps ????
Gary.

On my car, I used 1 1/16" for the 5/8" hose, 1 3/16" for the 3/4" hose. Originals and quality repro clamps are stamped with the size and WITTEK MFG CO USA. Originals are also date coded, and Year One offers date coded repros.

Thanks for the input, My 1 1/16 from Ground up are too big will not seal. Ground up's hose clamp kit comes with four 1 1/16 heater hose clamps. Bill do you think there are differant size 1 1/16 make know sense but is it possible? My 5/8 nipple on my 72 402 intake leaked and so does the other end at the heater core. I had to use some permatex on the intake nipple to seal it??

I have a new 1 1/16 clamp I didn't use. The ID of the clamp measured with calipers is 1.062~1.070, so that's right. I've noticed that the wall thickness of some of the repro hose is thinner than others. A thinner wall will allow less clamping force and could make it leak. If the 1" clamps you get will fit over the hose OD, then that's what I'd use.

To finish my post I recieveved my 1 in. tower clamps they slide over the 5/8 repro hose with a lot of room to spare. They should tighten and seal!
