Need some help/advice..... I've got a 72 w/402. It's got a Performer intake with a Holley DP. It runs way rich and I can't seem to dial it out. I've adjusted fuel/air mix basic stuff. I'm not too knowledgable on carbs so don't want to screw around too much. Any suggestions on dialing it out? Also, with the DP I don't get that boost I'm used to with a normal secondary type 4-barrel. It doesn't bog, but it doesn't drop down and go either. Is this the way a DP performs?

SSHUNTER- with your timing set on your 402 and a vaccum guage connected to your carb, how much vaccumm are pulling?
Let's say its 10hg. Divide that number by 2 and that is what powervalve you need to have.Holley's usually come with a 6.5.
after you get the right PV, then you can tune your jetting and A/F mixtures.Recheck the timing after installing the PV and resetting the idle...

If the carb isn't new,a rebuild kit and putting eveyrthing back to factory spec (jetting, powervalves, etc.) is usually a good place to start tuning if the carb is an "unknown"
