I have a 4 barrel rochchester carb and I start the car in the winter around every 2 weeks. The weather has been vey cold and now I have to keep the butterfly open to start the car and keep it running. It has an electric choke. Any idea why it closes when I try to move the car? thanks.

jjjersey,
Sounds like the choke is too tight. With it being cold the spring inside contracts more and becomes tighter keeping the butter fly closed. Can try to back off choke a notch or two counter clockwise.make a little mark on cover and carb housing with a colored marker as a reference starting point incase you want to put it back in the same place later. Should be three little screws on side holding cover on.Back them off a little till you can move cover. After adjustment made just resnugg screws.Don't over tighten. You may have to make a couple of adjustment over a couple of days to get it right.Need to let choke get cold again.May also want to check to see if you have power to choke terminal with a test light. Hope this helps some.If not email me...Jim graemlins/thumbsup.gif
